Where to Find Conundrum at TCAF

May 6, 2015 by

This weekend will be busy. The busiest weekend of the year! Although we’ve already let you know the signing schedule for TCAF we didn’t know where the signings would be. Well we are very please to announce the lovely TCAFites have set us down in the same spot as last year, just as you come in the front entrance, tables 153-154. The full layout of the library is here. We’ll be next to Secret Acres and across from Koyama. Two of our favourite presses. Also the programming has been announced. Following is where you can find some Conundrum artists:

The Pilot Tavern, 22 Cumberland Ave.: Sunday, May 10.
4pm: CAROUSEL: Comics Readings

R. Sikoryak (Masterpiece Comics) brings his long-running series of live comics readings & performances back to TCAF. Guests include Dakota McFadzean (Don’t Get Eaten By Anything), Ruben Bolling (Tom the Dancing Bug), and many more.

Forest Hill Ballroom, Marriott Hotel: Sunday May 10th
Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville Hotel, 90 Bloor Street East
2:45pm: Making Comics History
Research, depiction, reference, and imagination; a lot goes into telling a true-to-life story, and balancing veracity with storytelling is always a fine line to walk. Join an incredible group of creators who have delved into the past to tell a story for today’s readers, their struggles and successes. Featuring Meags Fitzgerald (Photobooth), Sydney Padua (Lovelace & Babbage), Aya Kanno (Requiem of the Rose King). Moderated by Calvin Reid (Publishers Weekly).

High Park Ballroom, Marriott Hotel: Sunday May 10th
Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville Hotel, 90 Bloor Street East
4pm: Art & The Urban Experience

How is a city captured in comics art? In this panel, participants with strong depictions of cities and the urban experience in their work will discuss issues of community versus belonging, assimilation versus individuality, capturing the essence of a city in art, and how best to convey these experiences in the medium of comics. Featuring Guno Park (Subway Stations of the Cross), Sophie Yanow (War of Streets and Houses), Michael Cho (Shoplifter), Kat Verhoeven (Towerkind), and Eleri Harris (The Nib). Moderated by Rachel Kahn.

And of course Saturday May 9 at 8pm find us at the Doug Wright Awards, where we will be cheering for nominees Meags Fitzgerald and Elisabeth Belliveau.
