Just got back from a grueling 15 hour drive from Montreal. Luckily my load was much lighter on the way back thanks to all those who came out to buy books at the Drawn and Quarterly bookstore and at Expozine. The D&Q launch was packed and all the artists made fabulous presentations. I learned all about the technical issues Jimmy Beaulieu had with his cover, watched balls of plastic blow through Yvette Poorter’s Rotterdam backyard, and listened to Maryanna Hardy explain the stories behind her drawings. Then it was the usual madness that is Expozine. I had lots of help and friends nearby. Thanks to Joe Ollmann especially for putting on the hard sell and helping me drink beer. Philippe Girard drove down from Quebec City on Saturday to sign books and be interviewed for a forthcoming documentary. Thanks to Louis and all my old Expozine organizing collective. I am happy to be retired from organizing and folding chairs but even more happy to sell the awesome conundrum books to the clamoring masses! Also thanks to Sarah Burwash for being my delightful driving companion.Best weekend of the year.
