Many of you have been writing in to ask: “Dear God, what did Claire Seringhaus DO last fall? I simply can’t go on without knowing.” Well here is the answer.
Her stop motion animation Billington Prep was created on a fairly short timeline, on a very low budget, as part of a new media scholarship program at the Centre for Art Tapes in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
And don’t forget to peruse and possibly buy her book of hilarious drawings, The Blaring House. A University of Toronto janitor once told Claire that a degree in fine art was “just knowledge for the sake of knowledge.” She continues to defy that janitor and now makes literally hundreds of dollars a year as a multidisciplinary artist and performer.
