Well the summer is getting away from me here in the wilds of Conundrum Towers. But thought I’d highlight a few events in the past and near future for anyone not soaking up the sun. Always nice to start the summer with this:
But then it is back to work! One of the best parts of my job as publisher and aquiring editor is to discover new talent. Julian Lawrence mentioned meeting just such a talent at VanCaf this year. Sure enough I checked out the work of Sean Karemaker from Vancouver and realized he had a book in him. We hashed out a deal and I am thrilled to announce Conundrum will be releasing his graphic novel The Ghosts We Know in time for TCAF 2016!
But not only that. When he sent the signed contract back Sean included a little surprise!
I love my job! I’m working on all the 2016 releases this summer so look for some other new surprises.
Then it was my annual pilgrimige to Sackville, NB and Sappyfest. Just drove up for the day for the zine fair. Here I am crossing the border:
And this is all I saw of the festival:
But the zine fair in the Legion was awesome as usual.
Then today I got a delivery of the first Fall book, and the latest in the International imprint, The Dharma Punks by Ant Sang. This is one fine book people. It should do really well. Includes a fantastic introduction by fellow New Zealander Dylan Horrocks. On sale as of now…
Looking ahead this weekend is DCAF, the Dartmouth Comic Art Fair. DCAF is held at Alderney Landing in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Sunday, August 16th, 2015, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. Admission is FREE! So please come by on your way to the ferry. I’ll have all the new releases and more!
